This year the show will be held at Crownhill Fort, Plymouth.

Vintage Fair

To those who love a beautiful bargin.. There is a vintage and homemade craft fair this weekend that Milkshake Mannequin will be running. Would love to see your faces. There will be tea and coffees, cream teas, cakes stalls, a knitting corner, a show and tell afternoon and for 1hour randomly a flash sale where our prices will plummet! There will also be a raffle raising money for the village hall, with one of the top prizes being the beautiful bespoke denim upcylced dress that has been finished and posted recently!

So come on down and grab yourself a beautiful bargin...

The ideas behind the dress...

This is the mood board from which I drew inspiration from, and then the CAD version of my final design. The brief for our designs had a very spacey feel so I mainly focused on the film "Mad Max" as this had a very rough around the edges futuristic look. The other part of the brief meant that we had to have an ethical opinion, and as a result of this I used upcycled denim as this would not only cut production costs but mean that the garment was ethically friendly. I also feel that the used/worn denim added to the "mad mad" inspired look. I applied this to the 1950's dress shape and proceeded to add surface textures such as screen print, studding and hand embroidery.

Just a little look at the dress I am currently making... Using upcycled denim for all you eco-concious fashion folk out there. With a bright coloured petticote underneath, the skirt has a beautiful 50's style kick and would be perfect for a vintage fair or swing dance to name a few.
